Na quarta-feira (21), o Hospital Veterinário de Referência ZooCare recebeu quatro fêmeas da raça Labrador, que integram a equipe da Escola de Cães Guias Helen Keller. Os animais foram submetidos a exames de sangue, ultrassom, eletro e eco cardiograma, tudo para prepará-los para a cirurgia de castração, realizada na manhã de quinta-feira (22).
Todos os procedimentos foram feitos gratuitamente pelo ZooCare como forma de ajudar a Escola de Cães Guias. “A crise causada pela pandemia do novo coronavírus afetou a instituição Helen Keller, que perdeu patrocinadores e passou por momentos difíceis financeiramente. Nosso objetivo é colocar nossos serviços à disposição, para atender estes animais de forma gratuita e assim ajudar esse projeto tão importante”, destacou a gestora e médica veterinária do ZooCare, Viviane Azevedo Ferreira Côrtes.
As fêmeas, Havana, Harpa, Happy e Hibisco, de seis meses de idade, já estão se recuperando do procedimento e logo voltarão à socialização, que é um dos processos para formação como Cães Guias. De acordo com a Gestora do Programa de Criação e da Área Técnica, Jhennifer Ferreira, este apoio é extremamente importante para a escola seguir o seu trabalho provendo o máximo de bem-estar aos cães e minimizando custos.
